Our story

Some of the best love stories begin when you least expect them. Ours started with a perfectly ordinary professional email and ended up, a few years and one very tall mountain later, here.

Shraddha and Roshan, newly engaged, in the mountains of Colorado

14,000 feet up, and newly engaged

How it started

Shraddha had just started her business and wanted to meet people around Lubbock. Roshan, who happened to be serving as General Secretary of the Nepalese Student Association at Texas Tech, seemed like a sensible person to reach out to. It was meant to be one professional conversation. It did not stay that way for long, and became a friendship, and then, with no clear memo announcing the change, something more.

How we knew

Shraddha was already settled in Dallas when Roshan decided to move there too, which in hindsight was a fairly large hint about where things were headed. The long-distance stretch that could have stalled everything out instead collapsed into regular dinners and far fewer phone calls, and somewhere in all those ordinary evenings, a nice connection quietly turned into a plan for a future. Neither of us can point to the exact day. We just know it happened.

The proposal

On 6 September 2026, Roshan took Shraddha fourteen thousand feet up a Colorado mountain, ostensibly for the view. At the top, thin air and excellent scenery in hand, he got down on one knee and asked. Shraddha said yes before he had quite finished the sentence, which seems fair, given what he had just carried up a mountain in his pocket.

The evening

Doors open at half past five and we are gently turned out by eleven. Everything happens under one roof at Parker Manor, so once you are in, you are in. No convoys, no second venue, nobody navigating a dark country road at nine o’clock. Just settle in and let us look after you.

  1. 5:30

    Arrival

Come whenever suits you from 5:30pm onward. Someone will greet you at the door, and there will almost certainly be one of us hovering nearby, absolutely thrilled that you came.

  2. 5:30to 7:00

    Cocktails

Drinks, something to pick at, and the quiet pleasure of watching two families work out exactly how they are related to one another. Introduce yourself to someone you have never met. That is rather the point of the hour.

  3. 6:00to 7:00

    Photographs

Family and group photos. If you are in one of them we will come and find you, kindly but thoroughly. Everyone else is excused, and may keep drinking on our behalf.

  4. 7:00to 8:30

    The programme

Our entrance, speeches of famously unpredictable length, and a few traditions we will happily explain as they happen. Do take your seat by quarter to seven if you can. We have rehearsed this walk rather a lot and would love you in the room for it.

  5. 9:00

    Dinner

Nine o’clock, which we know is late, which is exactly why the snacks earlier are not a token gesture. If there is anything you cannot eat, tell us on your RSVP and we will quietly take care of it.

  6. 9:30to 10:30

    Dancing

One hour. Please use all of it. Send us a song on your RSVP and we will pass it to the DJ, who has been warned.

  7. 11:00

    Last call

At eleven the lights come up and the romance is officially concluded for the evening. Gather your coats, your cards and your children on the way out, and know that we are so glad you spent the night with us.

Details

Getting there

Parker Manor, The Springs in Weatherford
454 Thompson Rd, Weatherford, TX 76087
Open in Google Maps

It sits just west of Fort Worth in Parker County, about forty minutes from downtown and an hour or so from DFW. Come off I-20 at exit 408 and follow Thompson Road out of town until the houses stop and it starts to look like a film set. You will know it when you see it.

Leave earlier than you think

The third is a Thursday, so anyone escaping Fort Worth or Dallas between four and six will meet I-20 westbound at its very worst. Please add thirty minutes to whatever your phone promises you. It is lying. We would so much rather you arrived early and bored than flustered.

Where to stay

The hotels sit together off I-20 at exit 408, about fifteen minutes away, which makes the taxi home mercifully short.

  • Hampton Inn & Suites
    864 E I-20
  • Holiday Inn Express & Suites
    850 E I-20
  • Fairfield Inn & Suites
    175 Alford Dr

Parking

A large lot on site, and free. Do consider arriving in something sensible and changing inside. We will not tell a soul.

What to wear

Come dressed to dazzle! Think party wear, sparkle, shimmer, sequins, and all things glamorous.

As the evening may get chilly, please bring a coat, wrap, or shawl that complements your outfit and that you'll be happy to be photographed in.

Gifts

Your presence is a gift in itself. No boxed gifts or flowers are needed. As we begin this new chapter together, we are saving toward our dream home, so if you would like to give us something, a little contribution toward that dream would mean more to us than anything you could wrap. But truly, celebrating this day with you is what matters most.

If you would like to send something anyway, Zelle reaches either of us directly.

RSVP

Please reply by 10 November 2026. The kitchen needs a number, and we would so much rather it came from you than from our mothers’ best guesses.

Wonderful. Thank you.

Your reply is safely in, and we are so pleased. We will send directions and the final details closer to the time, and nothing else. No newsletter, no countdown emails, no stern reminders about the dress code. See you on the third.

Questions you might have

What time should I really turn up?
Any time from 5:30. The programme starts at seven and we would love every seat filled before it does, so quarter to seven is the gentle deadline. After that you will have to creep in, and someone’s camera will almost certainly be pointed at the door.
Can I bring the children?
We kindly ask that our wedding be an adults-only celebration, with one exception: children belonging to our immediate family are welcome. If that is you, we would love to see your little ones, and we just ask that you keep a close eye on them during the programme and our first dance, so everyone (including them, eventually) can enjoy it without interruption. Thank you so much for understanding, it helps us so much in making the day everything we hope for.
Can I bring a plus one?
If your invitation named two people, absolutely. If you would like to ask about one more, please just ask. We would far rather have a happy conversation now than meet a lovely stranger at table nine.
Is there parking?
Yes, a large lot on site, and free. If the evening gets away from you, please leave the car and take a taxi. We would much rather be short one vehicle than one guest.
Dinner at nine? Really?
Really. It is the shape of the evening and we have made our peace with it. There are proper snacks from half five, so please do not arrive having heroically saved yourself all day on our account.
When does it end?
Eleven, firmly. The venue needs the room back and will not be charmed out of it, however well the dancing is going. Do take anything you brought in with you on the way out.
Who do I ask about everything else?
Gita Shrestha is coordinating on the day and can be reached at (469) 410-9866. If you are lost on the approach, the venue will happily point you in the right direction on (817) 609-5159.
